JD Shelburne
Not so many years ago, he was singing for tips at college bars, focusing on graduating from the University of Kentucky, and meeting anyone he could to help advance his career. Now he is soaking up country music, touring cities and showing fans what the buzz is all about. Today hes among the most hard working and relevant country singers in the business. They say Nashville doesnt work like this anymore that talented strivers with no connections dont stand a chance. But J.D. Shelburne proved that Music Citys engine still runs and that as a place for education, inspiration and validation, it has no parallel. Critics find him credible. Fans pack his shows. Venues strive to book him. There are precious few new artists recording hits today about whom that can be said.
Shelburnes kind of country has never been straight-up-the-middle. Instead, the Taylorsville, Kentucky -native grew up on a potent hybrid of honky-tonk, gospel, modern country and rock & roll, forging his own sound along the way.
JD has had enough recognition to land him in Country Weekly Magazine, cover story in Music Entertainment Magazine, numerous radio/television appearances across the nation, an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry with Steve Wariner, a USO Troop Tour at Camp Shelby, countless gigs that include KFC Yum Center! in Louisville, KY, The Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, 5 consecutive annual appearances at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Fourth Street Live with some of countrys biggest stars, The Bluebird Caf, Churchill Downs and Louisville Slugger Field to name a few. JD Shelburne was also invited to be apart of the first ever HullabaLOU Music Festival at Churchill Downs with Bon Jovi/ Kenny Chesney and many other national artists in July of 2010. JD Shelburne has also been highlighted at numerous award winning fairs and festivals all across the region including the Kentucky State Fair, Tennessee State Fair and Kentucky Derby Festival to name a few.
JD Shelburne has also shared the stage with over 40 national acts. During his career Shelburne has opened for acts such as Clay Walker, Chris Young, Miranda Lambert, Jamey Johnson, Kellie Pickler, Aaron Tippin, Easton Corbin and Steve Wariner to name a few.
Since 2002, country rocker JD Shelburne has performed to over 1 million fans nationwide, performed at over 200 festivals and over 1000 clubs on his decade touring circuit.
