Johnny Chromatic
JOHNNY CHROMATIC started playing guitar at the age of 14 and quickly knew that was his calling in life. He was soon taken under the wing of Butch Trucks (The Allman Bros.) and the tutelage of himself and the other Allman members (Warren Haynes, Johnny Neel, etc.). Johnny quickly became known as the town guitar prodigy, with newspaper articles and gigs at the biggest clubs in town, with his Dad in tow as sound man so he could play venues he was not allowed in without a chaperon. After graduating high school he went on to Berklee College of Music in Boston at the age of 17. There he was able to hone his skills and make great friends who have also gone on to great things (Jason Bittner/ShadowsFall, John JD Deservio/BlackLabelSociety, Brian Tichy/Ozzy Osborne/Pride and Glory/Billy Idol, to name a few).
After getting his diploma of music at Berklee Johnny began touring the Southeast USA with several different acts opening up for bands such as Joan Jett, Mr. Big, Quiet Riot, etc. He also made some more great friends on this circuit who have also gone on to great things (Will Hunt/Tommy Lee/Evanesence).
After a few years of this Johnny decided he needed a bigger pond than his home town of Tallahassee,FL and moved down to Tampa. There he started several bands and opened for many big acts looking for a break, such as Molly Hatchet, Ted Nugent, Edgar Winter, Widow Maker, and more. This where Johnny met Ralph Santolla (Iced Earth, Deicide, Obituary, Death). Johnny and Ralph hit it off and began a project called STARE with Johnny playing guitar and doing lead vocals with Ralph also playing guitar and producing. During a trip laying tracks in England, Ralph had an opportunity to play for Sebastian Bach, his guitarist had quit and he knew Ralph's abilities. After doing one show Ralph knew he needed to bring in musicians of higher caliber. So he called Johnny, Steve DiGiorgio, and Mark Prator to make the band a force to be reckoned with. This happened in 2004 and Johnny has been with Sebastian ever since. The members have changed around him, but he is the rock of the band, which now has Nick Sterling on guitar also, and Bobby Jarzombek/drums and Rob DeLuca/Bass. They have done one record, called ANGEL DOWN which features guest vocals by Axl Rose on three songs, one of which Johnny wrote ( STUCK INSIDE ) and are working on a follow up now. Johnny has toured the world several times over supporting G N R, Alice Cooper, Kiss, etc.
Johnny is endorsed by Dean Guitars, Nady Wireless, Dime Amplifications, and is now proud to add EMINENCE SPEAKERS to the list. Having used them on the entire recording of ANGEL DOWN Johnny was sold on Eminence as the best he had ever used and is extremely excited to be a part of the Eminence team.
Look for Johnny to be touring soon with Sebastian Bach and with his country/rock project Soul Circus Cowboys. Coming to a town near you soon, rocking the best speakers in the world, EMINENCE!
